Review: Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities

January 19, 2017

Tuesday night, I was given an opportunity to see Kurios  - Cabinet of Curiosities under the “big top” next to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Once again, this latest Cirque Du Soleil show did not disappoint. Cirque Du Soleil has been entertaining audiences since the early 1980’s having debuted in the amazing City of Quebec. The theme felt like a time-warp back to the late 19thcentury with a futuristic touch. The costumes were brilliant; full of color and unparalleled creativity. Examples? Picture an accordion but as a pair of pants. Picture a gentleman’s suit coat that opens up into a mini-house with a globe-like shape and a dainty lady actually living inside. Picture a slinky, but worn as a dress instead and adorn by a beautiful lady (living in the 1800s).

What about the performances. The athleticism of the dancers, contortionists, trapeze artists, juggling artists, and gymnasts were mesmerizing to say the least. We saw a wide variety of acts such as, a gorgeous lady twisting and flipping in the air on her bicycle. A dabber gentleman balancing on many solid objects, while swinging (that were sure to send him tumbling). He did not fall!

A human totem pole act with 12 fishermen (and women) so exciting there are hardly any words to describe how much fun it was to watch.  And, let’s not forget about the “lady fish” and “gentlemen fish”. First, the ladies entertained us with their contortions while the men showed us how a trampoline should be used, but, don’t try this at home with kids.

It was an incredible show and Macaroni Kid Coral Coral Springs says “thank you for having us!". The show was family-friendly so if you want to see this amazing show, it is running until January 29th. Tickets range in price from $39 - $160 and are available by visiting cirquedusoleil.com/kurios or by calling 1-877-924-7783.
