Ice cream is definitely a family favorite. It is always my first choice for dessert so it was no surprise that when I had an opportunity to sample a DIY customized Carvel Cake, I thought: "I'm in...with crunchies too?, I'm definitely in". Kids (or adults) may opt to use a template provided by Carvel, or to create your own original artwork (which is sure to be a hit).
Growing up in the Broward County area, Carvel has always had a great reputation for quality and great flavors for as long as I can remember, which made it easy for me to head to my local Carvel Shoppe in Coral Springs to:
1) Pick-up Carvel's special sized picture drawing paper;
2) Have my daughter draw her own original picture (this part was so much fun) on the "carvel paper";
3) Drop-off my daughter's drawing to place our cake order at Carvel Coral Springs; and last,
4) Pick-up our cake just in time for Mother's Day!
We opted to try out what I call the Carvel "classic style" with vanilla flavored ice cream cake on the top layer, "crunchies" in the middle, with a final layer of chocolate ice cream at the bottom.
Lastly, the picture. I was really impressed with the quality of the artwork on the cake. The colors were vibrant and the shapes were virtually flawless. My daughter and I were so surprised to see how close the artwork matched on the cake from her original drawing. My crafty-art-loving daughter was all smiles the minute I took the cake out of the box. Priceless.
Great look, great taste, happy kid: quality consistent with the Carvel Cakes I've always known. The DIY option brought the fun and became an instant hit with the family. So what does all of this mean? It means that we get to celebrate another great day as a family and another great year of motherhood. Second, we get to do all of this with a delicious Mother's Day themed Carvel Ice Cream Cake, personally designed just for me by my kids. I can think of no greater gift than to enjoy a sweet treat we all love with the personal touch of my children. Thank you Carvel for helping me to make another great memory with my loved ones.
In closing, the MacKid-way means it is time to share the love about new ideas and anything that makes life sweeter. With that being said, I invite moms, dads, grandparents and more, to consider getting one of these tasty treats to add more joy to your next special occasion. Mother's Day is just around the corner and soon, Father's Day too. Carvel presents the perfect opportunity to try something you are familiar with and yet, in a new and creative way. What a super cute idea.
