Nature Detectives Is Back!

By Michael Mills June 6, 2019

If you have children between the ages of 8 and 11 who fancy themselves a pint-size Sherlock Holmes or a miniature Miss Marple, AND they have an interest in nature, put the little sleuths to work at Nature Detectives, a half-day summer camp at Fern Forest Nature Center (201 Lyons Rd. South, Coconut Creek 33063; 954-357-5198). The long-running program is offered twice, both times from 9AM to noon, Monday through Friday: June 17th-22st, and July 29th-August 2nd.

Each day participants will learn about one of the distinctive plant communities found at the nature center, such as a tropical hardwood hammock; a cypress maple swamp; a prairie; and an oak, pine, and palm community. Another day’s program focuses on ponds, creeks, and canals. The order in which the daily programs are offered may vary, depending on the weather conditions. The fee is $75 for the week, and payment is required at the time of registration.
