At the City Commission meeting held on Nov. 17, Vice Mayor Antonio V. Arserio was selected as Margate’s next Mayor, while Commissioner Anthony N. Caggiano was chosen as the next Vice Mayor.
Mayor Arserio, first elected to the Margate City Commission in 2018, will serve as the ceremonial head and as the Chairman of the City Commission for their meetings. Both the Mayor and Vice Mayor have full voting powers on the Commission.
“As the youngest Mayor in Broward County, it has been an honor to grow in my role as a public official serving the residents, business owners, and visitors of my hometown,” said Mayor Arserio. “As your Mayor, I will continue to advocate for the success of our community.”
Commissioner Caggiano, who joined the City Commission in 2016, was selected as Vice Mayor.
“It is my absolute pleasure to represent Margate as Vice Mayor to ensure our taxpayers receive the best municipal services possible,” said Vice Mayor Caggiano. “I will work hard to address new opportunities and challenges to envision a better Margate for the future.”
Mayor Arserio and Vice Mayor Caggiano will represent the City of Margate at civic functions and serve in these respective roles for one year.
A swearing-in ceremony for both public officials is planned for the upcoming City Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 1, starting at 6:30 p.m.
